What is Yabodoo?
A calmer way to meet people in person. When someone is in the room with you, you can quietly tap a heart for them. Nothing happens unless they tap yours too — then both hearts turn green and you can say hello.
Where can I download Yabodoo?
Yabodoo is out now — free on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android. Search for Yabodoo, or tap “Get the app” on this site.
Does the other person know I liked them?
No. Your interest stays private and shows as gold on your side only. Their heart for you stays the plain resting heart. They are only ever told when the interest is mutual, so there is no rejection.
Is there any swiping or chat?
No swiping and no swipe deck. There is no chat at all either — the whole point is to meet in person, because you are already in the same room.
How do we find each other after a match?
Both phones turn green at the same moment, and Yabodoo guides you together: a proximity meter warms up over Bluetooth as you get closer, and if you're too far apart for that, a live map points you to each other. Nothing to arrange, no messages to write.
How does it know who is nearby?
Mostly your location, with Bluetooth as a close-range helper. Your location surfaces people nearby who are also discovering; Bluetooth finds anyone right beside you even with no signal. You can discover ambiently — anyone nearby who is also discovering, in any bar or out walking — or join an event, where Yabodoo confirms you have arrived and shows you the room. Either way you only ever see people who are there right now.
What is the Today photo?
A live selfie taken in the app so the people around you can actually recognise you. Only people discovering near you can see it, it never goes on the open internet, and it clears at the daily reset.
How do you keep it safe?
One tap on SOS gives you five seconds to cancel, then alerts your trusted contacts and shares your live location with them. Your local emergency number sits beside it. Every selfie passes a liveness check that runs on your own device, and you can report anyone at any time. Safety features are always free. See our safety and safety tips pages for more.
Is it free?
Yes. Yabodoo is free to use, and safety features will never sit behind a paywall.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account any time from the app settings. We remove your personal data within 30 days. See our data protection page for details.
