How it works
Three hearts. One simple rule.
The Yabodoo heart has three states. What you see depends on your own actions — and on whether the feeling turns out to be mutual.
The three heart states
White nothing has happened yet.
Everyone you come across shows a white heart. You haven't shown interest in them, and you have no idea whether they've shown any interest in you.
Yellow your private interest, only you can see it.
You've tapped someone's heart. It turns yellow on your screen so you remember. The other person still sees a plain white heart on theirs. They are never told.
Green the feeling is mutual. Now you can say hello.
The instant both of you have tapped, both hearts turn green at the same moment. This is the only state that is ever shared between two people.
A quick example.
You see Susan across the room. You tap her heart. On your phone it turns yellow. On hers, it stays white. She has no idea.
Nothing more happens unless Susan, looking around on her own, also taps your heart.
The moment she does, you both turn green and can say hello.
If Susan never taps your heart, you simply stay yellow on your own side and she never knows you were interested. There was nothing for her to turn down — so there is no rejection.
The rule in one line — a person's interest is never shown to anyone until it is mutual and the hearts turn green.
